The horizon of women

On 25 November, on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, the Trentino Library System of the Autonomous Province of Trento proposes a dialogue and a comparison on this issue, which is so sadly topical.

The event is sponsored by the Councillor responsible for Education, University and Culture, Mirko Bisesti, in collaboration with the Councillor responsible for Health, Social Policy, Disability and Family, Stefania Segnana.

Violence against women must be fought also through the conquest of a culture that rewards equal opportunities and rights.

The countries where changes in gender policies have taken place are those in which women occupy important positions in politics, institutions and communication, and the UN also strongly shares the message that "cultural change is the only antidote to violence against women".

In this context, the SBT - Trentino Library System, in collaboration with the Erickson publishing house and study centre, proposes

• an open dialogue between Elena Stanchina, responsible for Erickson's Psychology and Health Professions Area, and writer Lorenza Poletti, who is very conscientious about the world of Women

Online participation by the high school students of the Istituto Don Milani of Rovereto.

A greeting from the Department for Education, University and Culture is scheduled at the opening of the event.

On the occasion of the meeting, the showcases 'Passage to the Library', in front of the Library of the Province, will be switched on, so as to shed light on different female horizons: the voices of women with their biographical stories, the difficulties of being seen as professionals equal to men; the complexity of bringing to light the violence they have suffered; the discovery of living with a man who doesn't really love you, but above all the desire to succeed and open new doors by presenting great stories that have been able to draw a new horizon.
