Trento Festival of Economics 2022

Trentino and Gruppo 24 ORE are the organisers of the Festival of Economics for the next three years, 2022-2024, and so guarantees the long and positive path that the Festival has taken over sixteen years now, and which has made it one of the leading events in Italy and beyond.

The 2022 edition will once again feature a rich programme of meetings, events, talks and keynotes, with the participation of opinion leaders of national and international standing, as well as prominent scientists and researchers, representatives of civil society and institutions, economists, entrepreneurs, managers and representatives of the most important academic institutions in Italy and around the world, during the four days in June, when Trento and its Festival will become the centre of international economic and social debate.

A dynamic and innovative programme which, in addition to the traditional Festival events, will offer a full agenda of initiatives also aimed at young people and families: the "FuoriFestival" with special cultural, educational, but also transversal and infotainment content, including talent, creators and influencers.

The Scientific Committee for the 2022 edition of the Festival of Economics, chaired by the Editor-in-Chief of Il Sole 24 Ore Fabio Tamburini, is made up of Professor Gabriella Berloffa, Professor of Political Economics at the University of Trento, Professor Luigi Bonatti, Professor of Economic Policy at the University of Trento, and economic historian Adriana Castagnoli, former Professor of Contemporary History at the University of Turin.

The Advisory Board of the Trento Festival of Economics, which will have the task of supporting the organisers and the scientific committee in identifying topics related to the real economy, is made up of Lucia Annunziata (journalist), Emma Marcegaglia (President of B20), Paolo Magri (Executive Vice-President and Director of ISPI), Monica Mondardini (Managing Director of CIR), Giulio Sapelli (Director of the Eni Enrico Mattei Foundation), Giulio Tremonti (President of Aspen Institute Italia).

The choice of the title of the 17th edition of the Festival "Dopo la pandemia, TRA ORDINE E DISORDINE" | "After the pandemic, BETWEEN ORDER AND DISORDER" originated from a reflection on the very strong social, economic and political effects that the pandemic has produced, is producing and will produce. The scale of the economic crisis following the health emergency has required emergency economic policies all over the world, from the United States to China and Europe. Fiscal policy is back on the agenda of all governments and public debts are rising everywhere.

The real economy has initiated fundamental changes where communities will once again play a key role. The entire West is facing the demise of ideologies and a lack of leadership, not only in politics. In this scenario we are living, how will the balance in the Western world change?

Will the impetus for change be reabsorbed by the system, or will new economic and social balances emerge, causing tensions and continuous destabilisation? The crossroads is between Order, understood as the rewriting of new social pacts, and Disorder, understood as the failure of the management of the transition.
