Casa Balduini: guided visit
Guided visit by Chiara Radice (art historian)

Overlooking one of the most beautiful squares in Europe, Casa Balduini in piazza Duomo, Trento, has a centennial history. Since the Roman times of Trento, archaeological works have revealed important evidence. It’s the first example of a house featuring a painted façade in the city; it was frescoed during the second half of the 15th century by an unknown abstract painter. The fresco fragments found inside the building date back to three different periods. On the second floor, Gothic patterns feature fantastic creatures borrowed from the medieval Bestiares. In the adjacent room a painted drapery is completed with decorations from the Italian Renaissance; finally, the Madonna col Bambino goes back to a later period.
Meeting place in front of the restaurant “Scrigno del Duomo” in Piazza Duomo, 29.
