Colouring the saints - Exhibition extended until 30 April 2024.

Discovering the immense fortune of the Remondini sacred images in the 18th century

exhibition

The exhibition Colorare i santi | Colouring the saints has been extended until 30 April 2024.

An exploration to discover the incredible success that the sacred images printed by the Remondini family, entrepreneurs of Bassano del Grappa, had throughout Europe in the 18th century, thanks also to the itinerant trade of the people of Tesino.

The Remondini's "Saints", in fact, were able to intercept the growing demand of the more humble classes for images that could decorate their homes and satisfy their popular devotion.
Colour is the main protagonist, because the public who bought the 'Saints' loved bright colour contrasts and vivid tones.

The items on display come from the collection of Rosanna Cavallini, a painter and scholar of popular traditions from Trentino, and open up a scenario on the mentality and taste of the men and women of the popular classes in the 18th century.

The exhibition opens in Pieve Tesino, in Piazza Garibaldi, next to the Museo Per Via. After a presentation by the curator and a performance by the gogo folk band La Olga, free guided tours of the exhibition will follow. The day will end with a toast and light refreshments.
