The world-famous Overture from Die Fledermaus by Johann Strauss (son) will welcome the audience to the end-of-year and New Year's concerts of the Haydn Orchestra, conducted by Alessandro Bonato. Composed in 1874, 'Die Fledermaus' marked the triumph of the 'King of Waltz' on the theatrical stage as well, consecrating his fame to such an extent that, in 1890, a survey elected him Europe's third most famous personality, right after Queen Victoria and Otto von Bismarck. It is precisely Johann Strauss II that will be at the centre of the sparkling New Year's concert programme, in keeping with Viennese tradition.
