Libri da ardere (Fire books)

Libri da ardere (Fire books)
by Amélie Nothomb © Editions Albin Michel
The only play by Amélie Nothomb, Libri da ardere, looks at a city in Eastern Europe squeezed by the double siege of war and snow. Streaked by the cold, a professor played by Elio De Capitani, his assistant and a young student are hanging in the balance between the choice of burning books to warm themselves up or respecting their symbolic value.
The text makes us reflect on the value of culture in relation to our lives.
