Giorgio Perlasca was from Padua and was a merchant. He saved thousands of Jews, over 5200, in Budapest in the winter of 1944-1945 by pretending to be the Spanish consul. Back in Italy, he didn't tell anyone about that, not even to his own family. 

Even today, his story is unknown to most people. But he's really a universal emblem, and his story must be known and transmitted to the younger generations, so that the anxiety of success does not prevail over the search for the only, true success: self-knowledge.

The Teatro de Gli Incamminati and the Teatro di Roma have co-produced this theatrical show, which is not only the story of a true hero of the modern era, but it also embodies the deepest meaning of the theatre.

From its origins, the theatre aims at helping citizens to reflect, through poetry, on the deep connection that binds the apparent banality of our daily life with the great issues that lead the course of history.
