Perlasca, an Italian hero

Film director: Alberto Negrin

Cinema

His name was Giorgio Perlasca. He was from Padua and was a merchant. He saved thousands of Jews, over 5200, in Budapest in the winter of 1944-1945 by pretending to be the Spanish consul. Back in Italy, he didn't tell anyone about that, not even to his own family.

Luckily, some Jewish women recognized him at the end of the '80s in Padua. Otherwise we would have missed his truth forever!
