CLIMATHON in Trento. Aware of Climate Change in the Alps! Water: how to deal with too much or too little?
A marathon of ideas on climate change, open to young innovators, researchers, entrepreneurs, students and public administration employees

The Marathon of Ideas will take place simultaneously in 17 Italian cities and over 200 in the world, where participants will try to develop innovative solutions to solve the challenge that each territory has identified. The theme of water has been chosen for Trentino, and the day here is entitled "Climate change in the Alps: are we ready? how to deal with the absence and excess of water ". A first awards ceremony is scheduled for Friday at 18.30 (junior section), while the awards ceremony of "senior" projects will take place on Saturday, at 11 am.
Starting from 12.00 on 27 October and for the next 24 hours, participants will try to identify and test realistic solutions to address one of the consequences of climate change:
reduction in water availability or excessive abundance (as during extreme weather events). Both are generating effects that are relevant for the citizens' health and their lifestyle. After delivering a multi-disciplinary vision and adopting a systemic approach, supported by the evidences of the EU project LIFE FRANCA, we call for solutions that can be generated for a better governance in the use of water and responding to the risks generated by climatic events.
The event will be organized enclosing a Junior format (age 14-18) developed in collaboration with the local partners.
Connections with other cities hosting issues related to water or located into Alpine or mountain territories is foreseen.
The best solution individuated will be supported in a process of development within the innovation ecosystem of Trentino and the winning team will be invited for a special event during Ecomondo in Rimini on 9th November.
