Carnival in Val dei Mocheni

In Valle dei Mocheni, at Palù del Fersina, the Carnival rites take on their own ancient customs and traditions. Celebrations revolve around the figures of an old man (der bètscho), an old woman (de bètscha) and an egg bearer (dör oiertroger), followed by a group of masked young people and by the rest of the Carnival goers (koskrittn). On Mardi Gras this striking group passes through the village bearing wishes of prosperity and wealth to all the local houses.
