"Er vantone" by Pier Paolo Pasolini

Meetings and conferences

"Er vantone" ("The narcissist") is Pier Paolo Pasolini's translation into Roman dialect of Plautus' Miles gloriosus, and it was staged in 1963 for the first time, directed by Franco Henriquez.

It's a refined modern version of the archetype of the swaggering soldier, with a strong social meaning.

Curated by Massimo Rizzante, professor of Comparative Literature at the University of Trento.
