European Heritage Days 2017

The European Heritage Days 2017, on Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 September, focus this year on Heritage and Nature, and the Department for Cultural Heritage of the Autonomous Province of Trento joins the initiative.

Cultural exhibitions and events

In this year’s edition of the #EHDs we are celebrating the intrinsic relationship between people and nature under the common theme: “Heritage and Nature: A Landscape of Possibilities”. Emphasis is given to heritage values embodied in nature and to the extent to which the environment shapes people's lives and lifestyles and its contribution to their well-being and socio-economic prosperity.

The events in Trentino will take place at the S.A.S.S. Spazio Archeologico Sotterraneo del Sas (Underground Archaeological Site SASS) in Trento, at the Museo Retico di Sanzeno (Rhaetian Museum of Sanzeno), at the Museo delle Palafitte di Fiavé (Fiavè Pile-Dwelling Museum), in Don at Casa Endrici, and at the Area archeologica Acqua Fredda ("Acqua fredda" archaeological site)  at the Redebus Pass.

In addition to the programme attached (see above), carried out by the Department for Cultural Heritage, the Museo Diocesano Tridentino (Tridentine Diocesan Museum) proposes the following events:

Saturday 23 September

On Saturday 23 September the museum will be open with ordinary timetables and costs (10.00 - 13.00 and 14.00 - 18.00), and in the evening, from 20.00 to 23.00, it will have a special opening and token price ticket for 1 €.

At 21.00 the museum will propose a free guided tour of the exhibition Viaggi e incontri di un artista dimenticato. Il Rinascimento di Francesco Verla (The Travels and Encounters of a Forgotten Artist. Francesco Verla and the Renaissance). Open until 6 November, the exhibition brings us to discover this “forgotten” artist, who was in fact one of the leading players in the Renaissance movement in Trentino. In the spaces of the Diocesan Museum it will be possible to see most of Verla’s works, brought together for the occasion: from mellifluous altarpieces inspired by the “angelic and gentle air of Pietro Perugino”, to friezes with grotesque motifs.

Taking inspiration by the topic of the European Heritage Days 2017,“Heritage and Nature”, the tour will give particular attention to the meaning of the natural elements in the works of Francesco Verla.

The guided tour is included in the museum admission ticket; no bookings required.

Sunday  24 September

On Sunday 24 September the museum will be open with ordinary timetables and costs (10.00 - 13.00 and 14.00 - 18.00). At 16.00 the museum will propose a free guided tour of its collections and of the exhibition Viaggi e incontri di un artista dimenticato. Il Rinascimento di Francesco Verla (The Travels and Encounters of a Forgotten Artist. Francesco Verla and the Renaissance).

With an expert guide, visitors will discover the extraordinary heritage of art and culture kept in the rooms of Palazzo Pretorio, ancient bishop's residence next to the Cathedral of S. Vigilio.

The guided tour will also include a brief visit to the exhibition dedicated to Francesco Verla.

The guided tour is included in the museum admission ticket; no bookings required.
