Wine between the walls: the grape harvest

Inside and outside the walls of the Avio Castle is an ancient vineyard tended with great care by our gardener.
The harvested grapes, including those of the rare indigenous grape variety 'Enantio', are given each year to the wine cellar Cantina Sociale di Avio, of which the FAI is a member.
The grape harvest has always been a traditional ritual and a moment of celebration for the entire community that gathers in the shade of the vineyard.

Educational grape harvest workshops in the morning and afternoon for families and children.

During the day, there will be a special opportunity to learn how to harvest and press must (experience available for children accompanied by adults).
The Locanda al Castello Inn will prepare a lunch with a menu based on local products, to be tasted in combination with the wines of the Cantina Sociale, while tastings of FAI wines will be available throughout the day.

Opening times and programme

From 10 to 18:
- Autonomous visits with treasure hunt included in the admission ticket
- Guided visits at fixed times (at 11, 14 and 16)
Last recommended admission at 5.00 p.m., closing time 5.30 p.m.)

Programme:
11 a.m., 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. guided tours of the castle (booking is recommended)
11 a.m.: first round of grape crushing for families
12 noon: watercolor workshop
4 p.m.: second round of grape crushing for families
5 p.m.: watercolor workshop
