Flares

Drama

Soldiers in the trenches, on the front line, on that thin wire that impermeably and unpredictably separates life from death. Soldiers who, in anticipation of the imminent assault, retrace their lives, question and intuit their destinies.
It is precisely in those moments, one step away from the end, that life explodes in all its power and wonder; it suddenly lights up, opening the door to its mysteries.
Flares light up in the night to illuminate, with their glow and for a few moments, places or happenings. Our flares are stories that return to illuminate the places of the Great War through tales of men and women, of weeping and laughter, hatred, love, fear and courage...which speak of life.

The show features two soldiers who, moving in a sort of no-man's-land, like two actors hired to keep up the morale of the troops, tell stories of life in the war, moving from the comic to the dramatic, from the grotesque to the poetic, from narration to song.
Accompanying the actions of the theatre is live music played on the accordion.
