Giornata Europea del Rifugio - European Day of Mountain Huts

Trentino is home to the European Day of Mountain Huts, dedicated to the men that built them, to the modern day mountain hut managers who, with their passion, keep them open, and to those who visit them, bringing life to the mountains, like an echo rolling through the valleys and over the peaks, from East to West across the Alps.

Between the Adamello and the Pale di San Martino Group, there are 146 mountain huts located beneath golden peaks, at intersections between paths, and surrounded by the breath-taking scenery of the Dolomites, a World Heritage site.

On 26th June we are celebrating the European Day of Mountain Huts, with an act of solidarity, which this year is dedicated to supporting the Oskar for Langtang charity Association, and with a simultaneous concert by 19 choirs in 19 mountain huts. Ask for the gadget to celebrate the day in more than 60 participating mountain huts, and you will help the children in Nepal.

The Oskar for Langtang charity Association was founded in memory of Oskar Piazza, a rescue worker from the Soccorso Alpino del Trentino (Alpine Rescue Service), who fell victim to the devastating earthquake that hit and destroyed the Langtang Valley in Nepal on 25th April 2015. “Aiutare per non dimenticare” (“Helping so we don’t forget”) is the spirit that gives life to the association, committed to providing the children of the Langtang Valley with schools and homes.
