"Giovanni Boldini. Il piacere" (Giovanni Boldini. Pleasure) is the new major exhibition at the MART dedicated to one of the most virtuoso painters of his time at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries.

170 works from public and private collections, many of which come from the Boldini Museum in Ferrara, closed to the public after the 2012 earthquake. Boldini travelled from Ferrara to Florence, from London to Paris, where he settled permanently and met, among others, Courbet, Manet and Degas, becoming the painter of society portraits.

The exhibition also explores some of the relationships that marked his long and fruitful career, such as the one with D'Annunzio and Luisa Casati, a cultured and transgressive woman, a great interpreter of the elegance of the Belle Époque.

This is the subject of the new episode of FORM-AR®T, the television programme dedicated to cultural initiatives in our province, on air this week.

The episode is presented by Giampaolo Pedrotti with contributions by:

Beatrice Avanzi – Mart curator

Fabio Cavallucci – Curator

Monica Dematté – Critic and sinologist

Giancarlo Calza - Art Historian of Asia, recommending a book
