Iliade (Iliad)

Aida Foundation – Ippogrifo Productions
From Omero, Iliade by Alessandro Baricco
With Diego Facciotti, Enrico Ferrari, Alberto Margotti,
Ilenia Sbarufatti, Margherita Varricchio
Directed by Alberto Rizzi
Characters of the Iliad are given voice in a colourful, vintage, pop, american kitchen. On the stage five actors giving not only voice to the text by Baricco, but also image in the cinematographic and utopian production of Alberto Rizzi.
The performance is set in a kitchen – the heart of domestic life, the place of life and death, of domestic private discussions and familiar wars, where people eat and are eaten, meet and clash, make war and love.
Violence above all. “Everything began in a day of violence”. The Iliad by Baricco begins in this way, by echoing the Homeric “Accursed rage of Peleus’ son Achilles”. The real heart of the work by Homer, by Baricco and thus of the performance is violence: rage, temper, domestic abuse. And the kitchen as an ideal container of it.
