Irregolari (Irregular ones)

Sideways glances in Italian art, from Antonio Ligabue to the Atelier of Error

exhibition

The exhibition Irregular ones, sideways glances in Italian art, from Antonio Ligabue to the Atelier of Error, presents the works of 26 Italian irregular artists who expressed themselves over a century. It will also feature a giant work created by the children of the Atelier of Error led by Luca Santiago Mora.

The aim of this exhibition is to draw attention to the “irregular art”, that is to the artistic production that is carried out beyond the official art system, by people with no artistic training, often self-taught, sometimes socially marginalized.

The exhibition aims to raise the issue of stigma and of the limits of classification in art.

There will be works by famous artists, such as Antonio Ligabue (beloved and well-known in our country), and Carlo Zinelli, the most famous Italian brut artist abroad.

There will be of course unknown artists who actually deserve more attention, and who exhibit their works here for the first time. It’s a real journey among several fantastic and visionary forms of expression.

The exhibition will be accompanied by a catalogue with all the images of the works on display, and the contribution of twenty authors: students of irregular art, art historians, social scientists and artists.

Alongside the exhibition, many related events are scheduled, such as a series of “irregular” films and theme music concerts.

Some workshops will be organised by the travelling bookshop " La Libertina "; other workshops will be organised by artist Catherine Marinelli, who will also exhibit her own artworks.
