A theatre installation realized with virtual figures by Franco Maurina

The CONTEMPORARY THEATRE Review, on the iniziative of S. Chiara Cultural Services Centre, is bringing on the stage of the Auditorium “Fausto Melotti” in Rovereto some of the most interesting and innovative theatrical realities in the national overview, among which we find a theatre installation realized by the musician and video-artist from Trento Franco Maurina.

The performance, which will be on stage in the period between 26th February and 20th March, is totally automatic and is entitled L’OSCURITÀ DEL GUSCIO (“The darkness in the shell”).  The installation, designed for a limited audience (at maximum 15 members at each performance) and produced by FrameTheatre and S. Chiara Cultural Services Centre, uses different techniques by entrusting their management to ten Apple Macintosh computers.

Lights, sounds and figures in motion are inserted inside a space realized on a scale of one to ten where the sequences are re-elaborated and projected in a contest of real elements that makes them three-dimensional and they give life, with such a cinematographic precision, to apparently impossible combinations. The theatre holding the installation is plunged into the darkness and the vision offered to the audience is similar to that you can have while attending a performance from the balcony of a big theatre. The scene seems to be faraway, but on the stage where you have the feeling of being sat materializes, suddenly and unexpectedly, one of the characters.

The opening is on Friday 26th February at 18. From Saturday 27th February onwards and until the end of the exhibition, scheduled for Sunday 20th March, there will be two daily performances, at 18.30 and at 19.30. The Auditorium “Fausto Melotti” will usually close on Mondays.

Entrance 5 €. Booking is suggested by calling at the toll-free number 800 013952.
