Music
Toninho Ferragutti (ph. Marcos Muzi) [ Trentino Marketing srl]

Toninho Ferragutti is a leading exponent of new Brazilian music. His instrument, the accordion is hugely important, particularly in the music of north-eastern Brazil. A musician’s son - his father Pedro Ferragutti played and composed music for the saxophone - Toninho chose instead to play the accordion and has performed with top Brazilian artists and recorded thirteen albums in which he has created a very personal poetic sound that draws on a fusion between the raw north-eastern accordion tradition and the sophisticated erudition of the urban sounds of São Paulo. He has been honoured with various Latin Grammy nominations, the Tim Award, the Governador do Estado de São Paolo award and the Música Brasileira prize. In this Dawn concert the Brazilian musician will accompany the 4 cellists led by Mario Brunello - the others are Dimos Goudaroulis, Naomi Berrill, Walter Vestidello – at the start of their trek, together creating an unusual mixture comprising sounds from across the Atlantic and Baroque music, sophisticated production and popular tradition, a prelude to the three-day musical exploration and elaboration on the footpaths of the Brenta Dolomites.
