Alpine mountain huts: an anthropologist recalls their transformations in different contexts, the managers of two historic mountain huts emphasise their value as territorial and cultural presidia, a glaciologist shows the evidence of climate change at high altitudes. All around, beyond the limits of the anthropised territories, the evocative "landscapes of the useless", which an increasing number of mountain visitors wish to reach, admire and phptograph.
