My home and my roommates - Joyce Lussu's long journey
Nuovo Cineforum Rovereto

Film by Marcella Piccinini
Italy, 2016, run time: 56’
Marcella Piccinini tells us about the long journey of Gioconda Beatrice Salvadori Paleotti, better known as Joyce Lussu, partisan, writer, translator and poetess, silver medalist for military valour and captain in the Justice and Freedom brigades.
He does so with the voice of Maya Sansa and through evocative archival materials, including a historic interview given to Marco Bellocchio in 1994.
The starting point is the house of Joyce Lussu in Fermo, a house that bears witness to a dramatic but poetic existence, and tells of her exile in France with her husband Emilio, of the feminist struggles in Sardinia, of her commitment as a writer and translator for militant authors such as the Turkish Nazim Hikmeth and Agostinho Neto, the future president of Angola.
Every passion and every journey are stages of a longer journey: the commitment of a life for a freer humanity.
