Lecture con Thomas Daniell, full professor at the Kyoto University

Saturday, May 11, 2024 | h 17-19 | Maso Calchèra San Giorgio | Grigno, Valsugana (Trento)

An overview of the evolution and techniques of the Japanese garden, ranging from the arid landscapes of stone gardens, to walks in picturesque gardens, indoor gardens in courtyards, and “borrowed scenery” from distant landscapes.

Thomas Daniell, full professor of architectural history at the Kyoto University, is already familiar to Arte Sella audiences, since he created his work "Zen Bench" (in 2021), located at the Villa Strobele garden.

The lecture will also announce the collaboration between Arte Sella and the Order of Architects of Trento. Furthermore, the ongoing partnerships with the Polytechnic University of Milan and the San Giorgio Calchèra (lime kiln) will be highlighted, where the event will be hosted.

Speakers:

Thomas Daniell, full professor, Kyoto University

Marco Imperadori, full professor at the Polytechnic University of Milan and scientific head of Arte Sella Architecture

Gianni Nerobutto, general manager-technical director of the San Giorgio Calchèra

Marco Piccolroaz, President of the Order of Architects

A convivial moment will be held at the end of the lecture.

Event organized in collaboration with the Polytechnic University of Milan, the San Giorgio Calchèra and the Order of Architects of Trento
