Meetings and conferences , Conference

Angelika Fleckinger, Director of the Archaeological Museum of South Tyrol, will tell the story of one of the most important, probably the most famous, archaeological discovery on the peaks of the Alpine chain: Ötzi, the mummy found by chance in 1991 in the Vinschgau Alps, on the border between Italy and Austria.

The exceptional state of preservation of this corpse - which lived about 5000 years ago - and its rich grave goods has allowed scholars and scientists to reconstruct with extreme precision the daily life during the Copper Age in the Alps with extreme precision.

The incredible story of the "mummy coming from the ice", however, goes beyond the boundaries of archaeology, becoming not only an exceptional testimony of the past, but also a mass phenomenon known throughout the world.
