Ascanio Celestini, a histrionic "theatrical narrator", as if being at the window, imagines people's  stories without knowing them. These are common people's stories that take place at the cafe, in the factory, or even along the road...in the suburbs, on the fringe of the world. 

Violetta lives here, a young cashier in a supermarket; in order to get out of the monotony of her everyday life, she imagines she is a queen and creates an imaginary "realm", where she meets people who tell their stories.
