Cultivating taste. All the good of Trentino’s lands
An exhibition, a concept store, workshops and events to describe the excellence and uniqueness of the products from Trentino

Five months of exhibitions, workshops and events conceived by two museums in Trentino to disseminate the themes of Expo and its cultural and educational values. Expo 2015 arrives in Trentino in two key venues of Trento and Rovereto: Palazzo delle Albere, next to MUSE, and Mart, Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art of Rovereto.
On 27th May, the prestigious Palazzo delle Albere, the fine Renaissance building next to MUSE - the Science Museum of Trento, opens its doors after major restoration for an exhibition titled “Cultivating Taste. All the good of Trentino’s lands”. In the year of Expo 2015, this exhibition and is a way of promoting and expanding the Trentino Quality product; it portrays local agricultural practices and relationships with the region’s social structures, and presents information and recommendations regarding the role of agriculture and food processing in the context of Trentino’s economic development.
THE EXHIBITION
The visit underscores the value and uniqueness of Trentino’s products, by focussing on their relationships with the topography of the region, with the history and development of local crops and production techniques over the last 70 years, and with the resulting transformation into the landscape we see today.
In the rooms displaying the food exhibits, visitors are guided towards a more attentive perception of the region’s distinctive agri-foods as products resulting from the characteristics of the raw materials and processing techniques used. Multisensory interactive exhibits help explain some of the methods for processing Trentino’s outstanding world-renowned products. These exhibits include implements relating to the local material culture, on loan from the Museo degli usi e costumi della gente Trentina and the Museo Ladino di Fassa.Another perspective is presented by works of art from MART, the Castello del Buonconsiglio and the artists themselves.
Cultivating Taste continues outside Palazzo delle Albere, where there are fields and orchards planted with the region’s typical traditional and contemporary crops (map showing the various crops).
The Terrace at MUSE also has some special installations: a rock garden, various cereals and vegetables from the Andes and the Himalayas, with an allusion to the Alpine environment. The initiatives presented by MUSE for Expo are complemented by a new section in the Viote Alpine Botanical Garden on Monte Bondone dedicated to mountain vegetable gardens.
The Concept Store
There will also be a Concept Store in Palazzo Albere, open Tuesday to Friday from 10 am to 7 pm throughout the duration of the exhibition. Every two days a different company will have the opportunity to present its products in the Store for visitors to taste and to buy.

Every day from 5 to 6 pm, Palazzo Roccabruna’s sommeliers and the companies exhibiting at the Concept Store will be organising “Tasting Workshops”. These initiatives will give participants the opportunity to learn about the guest companies and take a real sensory journey through food and wine tastings.
