Sons of Kemet

Black to the future!
This is not only the title of Sons of Kemet's formidable fourth album, but a perfect summary of the approach to music of this London super band, winner of the 2021 Mobo Award as 'BEST JAZZ ACT'.
The award highlights the strength of their live performances, as is to be expected from a band led by saxophonist Shabaka Hutchings, leader of other award-winning bands such as Shabaka & The Ancestors and The Comet
is Coming (who were already acclaimed in Trento in the past).
Alongside King Shabaka's saxophone, SOK's musical formula adds the tuba of
Theon Cross and two percussionists, Edward Wakili-Hick and Tom Skinner.
In the foreground always remains the recovery of ancestral Afrofuturist themes and symbolism, dropped into the militant contemporary reality of experiences such as Black Lives Matter, and projected into the future with fresh music full of colour, passion and vitality.
After the cancellation of their tour last year due to the pandemic emergency, the Sons of Kemet welcome Trento's audience: an unmissable event, as the band has recently announced their dissolution at the end of the tour.
