The flavours of art

Art compared to the colour and beauty of food, from de Chirico to contemporary age

exhibition
[ Mostra I sapori dell'arte Casa de Gentili]

The flavours of art is an exhibition dedicated to art and food as a pair. It features true protagonists of 20th-century art such as Giorgio de Chirico and Roy Lichtenstein who delight us with different interpretations of the theme, resulting from their art and from their personal approach to the real.
The exhibition starts with a focus on food in still-life paintings as in the works of the masters of Divisionisim Carlo Fontana and Théodore Strawinsky, while in the canvases by Giorgio de Chirico and Filippo De Pisis food turns into a metaphysical object.
A section devoted to the leading artists of the twentieth century of Trentino, together with great personalities such as Umberto Moggioli and Guido Polo, lets us also touch upon the theme of food in artistic advertising with the fundamental works of the 1920s by Fortunato Depero.
The presence of pop art masters such as Roy Lichtenstein and Daniel Spoerri, founder of Nouveau Realisme and above all of EatArt, also invites us to meditate on junk food and on the excesses and waste that characterize the economic booms from the Sixties.
The core of the exhibition showcases works especially created by emerging artists from Trentino and by Italian artists of national and international fame invited to participate.
At the end of the display, a special section called "kitchen and design" presents some food companies proposing designer objects created by renowned artists.
