The sciences in the Middle Ages: exhibition of medieval manuscript codices

As part of the Medieval Science Library (BiblioSMe) project funded by the Caritro Foundation, which has led to the in-depth study and analysis of manuscripts in Trentino's libraries containing works on medieval science, the Trento Municipal Library in collaboration with the University of Trento has organized an exhibition entitled “Science in the Middle Ages” (Sala Affreschi, 26 May - 12 June 2025).

The event is an opportunity to admire some of the precious medieval manuscript codices, dated between the late 11th and 15th centuries, owned by the Municipal Library of Trento and usually kept in storage. On display, among others, are two specimens of the Somnium Scipionis famous passage from De re publica, a philosophical and political work by Cicero, a codex containing Aristotle's Metaphysics, and some fundamental medical texts.

The exhibition, which is part of a series of events organized in collaboration with the University of Trento, can be visited freely from 26 May to 12 June , Monday through Thursday, from 9.00 to 17.00.

Guided tours of the exhibition, curated by the by students of the University of Trento are scheduled on 29 May, 4 and 12 June at 12.00 at 17.00
