Toys, games and wonders

At the Ladin Museum, an exhibition on traditional wooden toys tells us about the story of local history from a unique and original perspective, suitable for young and old alike. An articulated project made possible by the institution, the collector, the writer, the old and the new generation.
The exhibition presents more than 200 items, the largest nucleus of which comes from Sara Gori's personal collection, and is enriched by toys from the Ladin Museum of Fassa and those collected in the homes of local collectors and enthusiasts who responded to the museum's appeal.
Starting with the toys that the Val di Fassa people carved out of stone pine wood during the winter and then sold to the Val Gardena wholesalers to supplement the meager family budget, the exhibition traces the special relationships between the two Ladin valleys.
It consists of small objects, sometimes only sketched, including little horses and other animals, dolls, spinning tops and small carts, as well as statuettes and other subjects.
From here, visitors will immerse themselves in the world of toys, discovering their special features and characteristics: what emerges is a great craftsmanship, care and imagination that past generations have put into inventing and making ever-new objects.
At the end of the path there is an area where children (and not only) can touch some traditional games giving vent to their creativity. Accompanying the exhibition is a book-catalogue, agile and rich in images, created with the collaboration of writer Bruna Dal Lago Veneri.
