What is a geological map? What is its use in the interpretation of a territory?

To mark the 200th anniversary of the geological mapping of the Dolomites, the first temporary exhibition in the new rooms of the Museum of Science and Archaeology explores the heritage of historical maps of the museum and other institutions, telling their story, emphasising their educational value, and concluding with the works of French artist Cathryn Boch, who reworks them through her contemporary sensibility. 

The exhibition includes a mixed layout, where topographical and geological maps, documents, work tools, didactic materials and finally works of art, become an opportunity to EXHIBIT for the first time part of the Museum's cartographic heritage, RETRACE the main stages of geological knowledge of the Trentino territory and beyond, starting from the early 19th century, by highlighting the contribution of the Museo Civico di Rovereto and REFLECT on some topical issues closely related to the geology of the territory.
