Utopia, Klimahaus exhibition - project

From 1 June the wide lawn between the modern MUSE and the sixteenth-century Palazzo delle Albere will host Utopia, a special exhibition-installation, which was organised in collaboration with Klimahouse - Bolzano.
The exhibition is part of Utopia500 – Looking for a fairer society, a project by the publishing house Il Margine and by the Autonomous Province of Trento, which involves different cultural institutions of Trentino (among which the Science Museum MUSE), aimed at investigating Thomas More’s message, in order to detect its modernity.
Starting from his masterpiece, Trentino features lessons, conferences and talks throughout year 2016, but also theatrical shows, musical performances, workshops for schools and other events in order to encourage anybody, especially young people, to plan a better future for our world.
This is why the Parco delle Albere turns into Prato dell’Utopia (Utopia’s lawn) from June to October: a place where it is possible to imagine and feed the idea of a literary utopia and newconcepts of cities, buildings and interiors, finally free of constraints and contingencies. In fact, this is the appeal of Klimahouse - Bolzano’s fair (in collaboration with Fondazione Architettura Alto Adige).
The exhibition Utopia consists of large panels showing some excerpts from literary, historical and utopian writings which were selected by the Association Il Funambolo (Marco Furgeri, Guido Laino, Tiziana Poli), together with a selection of proposals by those architects who, in June 2016, were invited by Klimahouse to test themselves with the utopia of living.
Thus, the project offers a panorama of the varied world of utopian literature and, at the same time, it intends to give voice to new impulses of architecture, which is called nowadays to engage with the utopia of living according to new rules…
Among the contributors, let us mention some architects such as Carlo Ratti, Kengo Kuma, Thomas Auer, Thomas Herzog and many others.
The exhibition-installation, hosted from June to October in the lawn of the MUSE has been made possible thanks to the contribution of ITAS, Insurance Institute of Trentino Alto Adige.
