Mezzo-soprano Margherita Rotondi and pianist Vincenzo Cicchelli are two musicians from Apulia. In more than ten years of concert experience, the Duo has performed a very wide and varied repertoire, ranging from 17th century Ancient Arias
to contemporary music, from opera to folksongs, from German, French, English and Spanish chamber music to musicals, from sacred music to Neapolitan songs.
Some songs have the power to stick in our memory and bring back indelible memories. Places, situations, people, feelings... all we have to do is listen to a verse or a few notes again, and our experiences come back to us vividly.
The intercontinental flight covered by the programme starts in Paris, with the charming and melancholic melodies of the chansonniers, then makes a stopover in South America, to move slowly to the Latin rhythms of rumba, milonga and tango, and finally lands on Broadway, with its musical comedies of brilliant character, but not without sentimental veins.
Each of the songs proposed has been included in some classic film of international cinema and the entire selection can be considered a true soundtrack, the ideal listening for a long journey that brings us back to ourselves and our lives.
