Waiting for Darwin Day 2019
A new exhibit and a lot of activities

"Theories in the attic and new discoveries"
Activities, workshops and a new exhibit, the Australopithecines, which will enrich the museum's permanent collections, to talk about how science changes and evolves.
The evolution of science will be the focus of the "Waiting for Darwin Day", a schedule of events that the MUSE-Science Museum of Trento offers its visitors and schools to celebrate Charles Darwin's birthday, along with other museums and scientific institutions around the world.
The Darwin Day is held every year on 12 February and has become a valuable opportunity to talk about evolution, natural selection and phylogenetics, but also to present new theories and disciplines, such as neo-Darwinism, evo-devo (Evolutionary Developmental Biology) and epigenetics.
The "Waiting for Darwin Day" activities and events will leave an indelible mark in the Museum: the Australopithecines, a new exhibit which will enrich the museum's permanent collections, is emblematic of the possibility that a discovery gives rise to many different and sometimes contradictory explanations.
On Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 February, visitors are invited to take part in several activities to discover how science and its theories have changed over time, or have even been completely overturned. On 12 February, on the exact day of the birth of the great scientist, the programme is offered to schools, with some variations, and with the scientific show "Walking with Charles Darwin. A thousand facets of an extraordinary mind".
