Moving beyond inclusion

Oriente Occidente and its three days dedicated to inclusive dance

[ Oriente Occidente]

9-10-11 September 2016 - Rovereto, urban centre

Dialogue and debates on disability and arts with international guest speakers, from policies to experiences, a first step of three days on the professional inclusive sector of disabled and non-disables artists.

A project to develop skills , expertise and audiences for the professional inclusive sector of disabled and non-disables artists.

Aware of the importance and quality of inclusive practice, nowadays however opportunities for disabled artists to develop their work and for diverse artists to work together remain limited. There is a lack of training, employment and broader understanding in the sector, and this is restricting the poential growth and health of the cultural arena.

Led by Candoco Dance Company, it is designed by experienced producers and presenters to provide a ground-breaking continuum from professional training to new work to showcasing to audiences ensuring that change can be sustained rather than isolated.

To close the three days dedicated to inclusive dance, the Swedish Company SPINN will perform "Trio" for the first time in Italy on Sunday 11 September (at 19.00) at the Auditorium Melotti in Rovereto. The show is based on the fact that every moment in life is new and unique. The dancers enter a game, meeting both each other and themselves in a stage vocabulary of dance, set-ups, chitchats and dreams. This trio is about proximity. It is an investigation into what it could mean to be close to someone. The proximity is investigated in a very physical and experiential way.

Their proximity is the locomotive of the train of events, including pulling faces, hectic movements, mosquito smashing, small dance solos and staring at each other.

At the end of the show, a buffet will be offered as a convivial moment.

The project is funded by the cultural programme of the European Union and in partnership with Candoco Dance Company (UK), SPINN (Sweden), Center for movement Research (Croatia), Tanzfähig Berlin (Germany) and BewegGrund (Switzerland).
