A summer full of events and exhibitions in the Castello del Buonconsiglio and in the castles belonging to its museum group: Castel Thun, Castello di Stenico, Castel Caldes.

Fede Galizia in Trento, Roccatagliata in Stenico, collection of carriages and photo exhibition in Vigo di Ton, Tour de France photographs and exhibition on the historical characters of the Valle di Sole in Caldes.

The Castello del Buonconsiglio, Castel Thun, Castello di Stenico and Castel Caldes welcome the 2021 summer with unmissable exhibitions. In all the museum sites, visits will be guaranteed in complete safety with restricted access and required booking, in full compliance with anti-Covid protocols.

The exhibition season will open on 4 June at Castel Stenico with the second stage of the exhibition Gli apostoli ritrovati. Capolavori dall’antica residenza dei Principi vescovi (Rediscovered Apostles. Masterpieces from the ancient residence of the prince-bishops of Trento), curated by Giuseppe Sava, and open until 5 September 2021 in the precious Sala dei Fiori. (The first stage of the exhibition took place at the Castello del Buonconsiglio and was barely visible, due to the forced closure of the museum during the Covid-19 pandemic).

On 18 June two exhibitions will open at the Thun Castle

the new exhibition dedicated to the collection of carriages, housed in the large room of the completely restored “Cantinone”, and the photographic exhibition on the Thun family set up in the Library;

Di luce e d'ombra. Memorie fotografiche della famiglia Thun (Of Light and Shadow. Photographic memories of the Thun family") is the title of the exhibition that the Thun Castle will host until 7 November. Organised in collaboration with the Department for Cultural Heritage, the exhibition explores the rich collection of photographs that belonged to some important branches of the Thun family.

Postponed last year due to the pandemic, this year's exhibition event will be dedicated to Fede Galizia, “mirabile pittoressa” (Fede Galizia - An Amazon of painting) at the Buonconsiglio Castle.

Not many women painters have left their mark on the history of art, but between the 16th and 17th centuries some of them achieved fame and success: alongside Sofonisba Anguissola and Artemisia Gentileschi, Fede Galizia stands out, a painter of Trentino origin. She will be celebrated at the Castello del Buonconsiglio, from 3 July to 24 October 2021, with the first monographic exhibition dedicated to her.

Two different initiatives will take place at Castel Caldes during the summer. The first one is organised in collaboration with the Val di Sole Tourist Board on the occasion of the World Mountain Bike Championships, which will be held in Caldes.  It is a photographic exhibition of historical shots from the famous Magnum photo agency, all dedicated to the world of cycling, entitled La vita di corsa (A racing life) with evocative memories of some Tour de France and races in French velodromes.

The second exhibition is dedicated to some of the protagonists of the culture of Val di Sole from the 16th to the 20th century, through paintings, engravings and books, and among these, in particular, those who made a significant contribution to their time.
