Dantedì (Dante's Day)

25 March. A day dedicated to Dante

On 25 March, the date that scholars identify as the beginning of the Divine Comedy's afterlife journey, we celebrate the day dedicated to Dante Alighieri, Dantedì (Dante's Day), established last year by the Government last year. The great poet is the symbol of the Italian culture and language: remembering him together will be a way to unite the country even more in these difficult times, sharing verses of timeless charm. The 2021 edition is even more significant because it takes place on the 700th anniversary of the Supreme Poet's death.

Images, videos, works of art and rare editions of the Divine Comedy tell us how much the supreme poet has profoundly marked all the cultural and artistic expressions of the Italian identity over the centuries.

But the verses of the poem have resonated, in various ways, in the depths of our feelings, have reached us in different ways and have sometimes left an indelible mark.

With his "story-commentary' of the Divine ComedyVittorio Sermonti has enabled any Italian with an average level of education, intelligence and a bit of passion, to go through the greatest book written in Italian, but without constantly interrupting the adventure to get information and explanations on its verses.

Don't miss this opportunity to enjoy his prose, at once refined and colloquial, accurate and ironic, impudent and thrilled at the same time.

Per correr miglior acque alza le vele

Omai la navicella del mio ingegno,

che lascia dietro a sé mar sì crudele…
