Voices from the village and from the forest

40 silk-screen prints to reach India are on display at Torre Mirana

exhibition

There are illustrated books coming from India, made entirely by hand, capable of stimulating our senses, distributed throughout the world and also published in Italy. These extraordinary works are produced by Tara Books, founded by Gita Wolf, at the head of a large group of artists and silk screen printers, who have shown the full worth of authors who would otherwise have had no voice: popular and tribal artists conserving ancient forms of art and conveying specific cultural identities. The Mithila, Gond, Meena, Warli and Patachitra artistic traditions are just some of the Indian voices the exhibition invites the visitor to listen to. The Hand Made section focuses on the book "Creazione" (Creation) published in Italy by Salani, in order to understand what silk-screen printing is and how Tara Books creates its hand-made books. In the cellars of Torre Mirana cultural exchange is based on Warli art forms: children can explore the culture of this tribe through drawing, starting from the book Che cosa fanno i Warli published by Edizioni Ippocampo.
