Trento Film Festival

The TrentoFilmFestival is one of the oldest festivals in this type in Italy. The first festival took place in 1952, when the Italian Alpine Club (Club Alpino Italiano) had the idea to hold a film festival concerning mountains. Finally it was realized in cooperation with the municipality of Trento. Since these days Trento is the scene of the unique TrentoFilmFestival, which brings people closer to the wide topic of mountains every year between April and May.

In the center of this film festival we have the mountains, their exploration, the environment, the culture as well as the alpinism. Films and Videos from different countries are concerned with this topic. The whole program of the film festival is always large and varied. Beside the cinema presentations there are also exhibitions and readings.

All films which contribute to the presentation of the mountains and their protection are allowed to participate in this festival. Different aspects are illuminated, for example the contact of the people with the mountains, the historical and social background and the environmental protection. Since 2000 the TrentoFilmFestival is founder member of the association “International Alliance for Mountain Film”. This association centralizes the biggest international film festivals which are concerned with the topic of mountains.
