Contesto naturalistico [ Ecomuseo dell'Argentario]

Among the Adige river, the Avisio stream, the Lases lake, the Silla stream, among small hillside villages, on the edge of the city of Trento and in the shade of the relief of Mount Calisio, a wooded plateau has been preserved over the centuries: the Argentario. Always a place of extraction of stones and minerals, a territory of pastures and crops, home to  historic roads, the plateau is now the complex result of a centuries-old interaction between man and the environment. The Ecomuseum was born in 2005 from the commitment of the community with the support of the administrations of the municipalities of Civezzano, Fornace, Albiano and Trento aimed at sustainable development, protection and enhancement of an area with unique characteristics.  It has organized the territory through themes: "The natural environment of Monte Calisio Argentario", "The ancient silver mines", "The limestone", "The stone quarries", "The fortifications", "The archaeology", "The monuments", "The porphyry mining activity", "The manifestations: the language of the communities", "The human activities". These themes form the basis for the visit and discovery of the territory, but above all for the development, the knowledge, the recovery of memory, the work.
