Museum of Vallarsa rural culture - Riva di Vallarsa

Recreation of the spaces of country life.

Born from the idea of a group of volunteers, which became later the Ethnographic Museum Research Centre, the Museum of Vallarsa rural culture leads you in a great journey backwards through this wild and secluded valley.
Documents, photographs, rooms used in everyday life and work: everything reminds of ancient habits and lost civilizations.
The museum is located in two different buildings in the town of Riva di Vallarsa, not far from one another. In the first one there is a faithful reconstruction of the rooms of a farmhouse of the 19th century: the bed, the cradle, the wooden furniture and the scent of the laundry washed with ashes, the fireplace, the pots and pans and the copper buckets used to fill with water from the fountain. Moreover: the school desks with ink and inkwell, the school board and the globe…
The other building hosts tools for rural work: the plough, the hoe to prepare the ground for the sowing time, the bushel for the grains of wheat. This corner of a recent past tells the hard labour and the satisfaction of working in the fields, an essential activity for the entire valley.
