Ballet black, national première

Dance , Opera and modern ballet
Ballet Black Ingoma [ Centro Servizi Culturali Santa Chiara]

It is an expected return of the Ballet Black in Trento. The British company founded in 2001 by Cassa Pancho, a dancer with half Cuban and half English blood, with the aim of bringing ethnic minorities to the forefront of classical ballet, it had excited with its energy the Social’s audience a few years ago. Unhinging secular prejudices, Ballet Black represents a unicum of great artistic prestige. Its repertoire meets both academic virtuosity and hip hop and Afro dances, abstract and narrative dance, rigor and humor as evidenced by the new program, presented in the national premiere in Trento. The title of the evening, Ingoma, comes from the choreography of Mthuthuzeli November included in the triptych: a choral piece of struggle, claim and prayer for South Africa, the birthplace of the choreographer, in which the tips of classical ballet are combined with the fluidity of the traditional Afro movements. Ingoma is associated with the duet Pendulum where the charm of the classic pas de deux and the contemporary duet become images of combat and intimate union and the amusing Click!, an exploration of the gesture of snapping fingers, the energy of activation of an imminent change of state and perspective.
