Four performers with an international profile, four extraordinary personalities for one quartet: the Barbican String Quartet.

An original voice in the field of chamber music, the British ensemble communicates joy thanks to the wealth of energy they can imprint in their interpretations.

Rising rapidly, they have conquered the podium at the ARD International Competition in Munich, also receiving the prize as best interpreters of the work of contemporary composer Dobrinka Tabakova, the recording of a CD for the German label Genuine, the Gewa Prize and the coveted Henle Urtext prize.

The name Barbican has a double meaning: the first one refers to the defensive wall of a castle, which the ensemble connects to their desire for discovery, development and continuity in the chamber music tradition; the second one refers to their deep connection to London, the city where they made their debut, at the Barbican Center itself. Today the Quartet brings together four nationalities and speaks seven languages.

In Madrid, the Barbican is continuing further training at the Reina Sofia Academy with Günter Pichler, and in Munich with the Quatuor Ébène.
