Bertozzi & Casoni. Anthropocene

exhibition

In 1980 Giampaolo Bertozzi and Stefano Dal Monte Casoni founded Bertozzi & Casoni. The company is dedicated to ceramic sculpture, the expressive medium they chose as their area of activity.
The artists experimented with technique and form, creating pieces poised between irony and social investigation, critique of consumerism and reflection on the art system. Bertozzi & Casoni reproduce reality by focusing on discarded or minor elements, provoking shifts in meaning and blurring sign and appearance.

In the exhibition their works are juxtaposed with those of great artists from the Mart's collections, including Lucio Fontana, Fausto Melotti and Giorgio Morandi, to underline the clear references to the world of contemporary art and design in the work of the two sculptors, which is also very much informed by the art of the past.
