With Death and the Maiden, the Abbondanza/Bertoni Company stages three different 'masterpieces': a musical one (the quartet in D minor 'Death and the Maiden'), a physical one (the human being in the excellence of its dynamics) and a spiritual-philosophical one (the mystery of the end and its continuous gaze upon us).

Just like Matthias Claudius in the text of the Lied, and Franz Schubert in the string quartet, the company's work follows the theme of death accompanied by young female figures; in the performance, these two aspects are distinguished as follows: choreographic plane (the maiden) and video plane (death).
