From an idea by Silvio Cattani. Curated by Rolando Giovannini. Exhibition project by Sandra Baruzzi

“Espresso and Cappuccino Cups” is a project that brings together hundreds of cups made by architects, artists, graphic designers, ceramists and sculptors interpreting a typically modern object.

The coffee cup, which does not have the age-old history of the vase or bowl, became part of the most common utensils in the late 19th century; from that moment on, its popularity grew and spread thanks to the internationalisation of two typically Italian products and rituals as well: espresso and cappuccino.

Through almost 200 examples on display, the small exhibition hosted at the Mart shows the wide popularity of an object that today features in everyday moments of rest, recharge and pleasure throughout the world.
