The work of Giuseppe Salvatori focuses on painting as a reflection on time and the history of civilization. On panels treated with encaustic, an ancient painting technique that mixes colours with molten wax, the artist's hand moves with subtle lyricism, chasing connections between his own experience and the ancient memories that resonate with it. The autobiographical composition, the elegy, goes hand in hand with the history of Greek painting.  Salvatori ventures fearlessly into erudite and sophisticated decoration with the same sobriety that we see in vase painting. Flowers, daggers, leaves, butterflies, horse heads, abstractions, maps and footprints appear in his paintings, evoking a symbolic universe linked to the scholarly cultural references of which the artist is the interpreter and custodian.

The sequence of works presented at Mart references the shape of a necklace.  Arranged in a seamless loop, the circles imply a link between the images they contain, suggesting a story that walks the line between the particular and the universal, the whole installation and the individual painting.
