Gianfranco Baruchello

Curated by Gianfranco Maraniello

exhibition , Art exhibition

Developed in collaboration with Gianfranco Baruchello (Livorno 1924), the exhibition retraces the pursuit of an artist who ventured beyond the traditional confines of art, questioning cultural systems and conventions.
An experimenter in techniques and idioms, Baruchello began his quest in the late 1950s, rethinking the pictorial medium, practicing juxtapositionassemblagewriting, and reductions of scale. In constant dialogue with the innovative thinking of Marcel Duchamp, his exploration of new forms of expression ranges from paintings on various supports to the creation of box-objects, and from the editing of films to the performance of actions and projects on the environmental scale.
Also making reference to the experience of Agricola Cornelia, where the cultivation of the land becomes a vehicle for reflecting on the nature of art, the exhibition traces out an itinerary through Baruchello’s principal nuclei, exploring the space of the work and the relation between the real and the oneiric dimensions, employing a peculiar methodology adopted by the artist and the curator Gianfranco Maraniello.
The exhibition has been organized in collaboration with Fondazione Baruchello.
