In the footsteps of the Medieval pilgrims of Compostela and Rome

For the first time in Trento, an exhibition on the ancient pilgrimage routes that lead to Santiago de Compostela and Rome

exhibition
[ Pellegrini per sempre]

The purpose of the exhibition is to present and share the experience that has a lasting impact on the people who follow the old pilgrimage routes each year. One of them leads to Santiago de Compostela, city of Galicia which hosts the tomb of the Apostle St. James the Great; the other leads to Rome, city of the martyrdom of the Apostles Saint Peter and Paul.

The exhibition gathers images of sensations and emotions experienced by the pilgrim, who finds himself in a forgotten dimension at the slow pace of his steps. This slowness allows the reunion of soul and body and, step by step, the pilgrim leaves his own traces on the holy paths, like other people before him.

A journey thorugh time

Thanks to an historical reconstruction, you will be able to compare the medieval and current clothing of pilgrims. While in the past the traveller tried to protect himself against bad weather, nowadays he prefers walking with a light backpack.

Saturday 23rd April at 16.30 – Meeting/Conference on the topic of the exhibition.
