“If the organ is the 'king of instruments,' then the king's consort must be Isabelle Demers...”
Known as the “little dynamo,” Isabelle Demers on the organ is a force of nature; she has enraptured critics and audiences around the world with her “virtuoso” (Chicago Classical Review), “fearless and extraordinary” sound (Globe News).
She has performed throughout Europe, Oman, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and Canada. Last August, for example, she made her London debut for the BBC Proms at the Royal Albert Hall.
Her acclaimed recordings have been heralded as “expressive...deep and precise,” and her highly virtuosic technique and choice to play by heart all her repertoire set her apart as excellence in the world of organists.
Her very particular way of playing stems from the simple observation that all organ works born on one type of organ, when reproduced on another instrument are to all intents and purposes a transcription.
So, by preserving in her mind the abstract structure of the score, Isabelle manages to change its sound material each time by adding, on the organ on stage, perspectives, suggestions and gradations that can surprise any listener that is so lucky to be there.
